The Italian lighting brand Artemide, founded in 1960, is one of the most prestigious in the world. The Artemide Group is one of the world leaders in the sector of residential lighting and high-end professional lighting. It stands out for its “The Human Light” philosophy and its name has become synonymous with design and innovation as well as being a benchmark of Made in Italy.
Artemide has contributed to the history of international design with lamps such as Eclisse (1967, by Vico Magistretti), Tolomeo (1989, by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina) and Pipe (2004, by Herzog & De Meuron), all winners of the Compasso d’Oro award. Artemide stands out both in modern interior lighting – with ceiling lights, suspended lights, floor lamps and table lamps, spotlights and wall lights – as well as in architectural lighting and outdoor lighting.
In 1994 Artemide received the Compasso d’Oro award for career achievement and the prestigious European Design Prize in 1997. Artemide Italian lamps are internationally considered as icons of contemporary design and several of them are exhibited in the most important museums of modern art and designer collections in the world such as the MoMA in New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnica in Milan, the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna in Rome, or the Center Georges Pompidou in Paris.
SInce its inception Artemide has collaborated with the most prominent international designers and actively promotes workshops with design schools such as the Royal College of Art in London, in order to discover the best talents among the young generations of designers.
Oliva Iluminación is an official distributor of Artemide Italian lamps.
